Commissions

Commissioning a piece of jewellery is a wonderful process which allows you to create something that is totally and utterly unique to you. Working with clients in this way is a process that Andrew English relishes. Andrew always starts a commission with the view that nothing is impossible; whatever it is that you would like, it can be created.

“It is always wonderful to be asked to make something from scratch; to interpret what the client wants is a special type of challenge. The really great thing about the commission process is that you are never quite sure where it will take you; and for that reason it is an exhilarating journey for both the client and myself.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:

I live outside the UK, but would like to order Fingerprint Wedding Bands, is this possible?
A:

Yes, location is not a problem. Andrew English has already provided Fingerprint Wedding Bands for many a happy couple worldwide.

Q:

Is it really our fingerprints that are engraved on the bands?

A:

Yes; it is your print that is engraved onto your partners band, and visa versa.

Q:

Where on the band can the fingerprint be engraved?

A:

The fingerprint can be hand engraved on either the in or the outside of the band; or both if you prefer. Through the commission process you also specify the orientation of the print on the band.

Q:

How is the fingerprint taken?

A:

The fingerprint is normally taken via a very simple and accurate carbon transfer when clients visit the workshop.

Q:

What if I am not based in the UK or am unable to visit the workshop?
A:

If you are unable to visit the workshop, a very simple guide can be emailed or posted out to you. The guide will take you through the steps of creating a clear print which can then be hand engraved onto your Fingerprint Wedding Band.

We have already organised our wedding bands, but would like to have our fingerprints engraved onto them; is this possible?
A:

Unfortunately, only bands which have been handmade and hallmarked by Andrew English can be be used in this process. Andrew English guarantees the highest quality in all aspects of the process; from the quality of the metal to the skill and craftsmanship involved in the making of the bands and the hand engraving of the prints. Also, by only using bands, which have been made and hallmarked by Andrew English, is the intellectual design credibility over the concept maintained.
